Those who would like a pet but don’t have much room – or the energy for a dog – often consider keeping a bird of some kind. Pet birds can be kept in a cage inside and let out to fly around the room for a little exercise, so long as your remember to close all the doors and windows first.

Birds make great little pets with their pretty colours and cheerful chatter. They are easy to care for, though some breeds may have special needs. The best way to find out all you need to know about keeping birds is to buy bird books or subscribe to bird magazines.

This is particularly true if you intend to keep aviary birds. You will need to know where the best place is to site your aviary and how to set it up to provide a home that is as near to natural as possible for the birds you intend to keep. You might have budgerigars, cockatiels, finches or even beautiful parrots.

Parrot books will tell you all you need to know about the needs of various parrots. It will tell you what kind of grain they need to eat and where to place it so that they can access it in a natural manner. Ground-feeding birds will not want to peck at seed that is hanging from a branch.

You may even decide to go into breeding your birds in which case you will need a great deal more knowledge. What kind of nests these birds make in the wild and where they are placed are just some of the things you will need to find out. This knowledge can be gained from special bird books or parrot magazines.

Once you know all the details, you won’t be likely to make expensive mistakes in raising and keeping birds that could cost them their lives.

Reptiles are another kind of pet that are easy to keep that don’t take up much room. They too have special needs, but you can find out all about them from reptile books.

The search for the ultimate pet for your child or even yourself is going to be the task that takes time. You will find each animal has different responsibilities that are different than one or the other. If you are looking into buying yellow parrots for your family you should know it is a right idea. The responsibilities of a parrot is a lot different than most animals.

If you plan on buying a parrot for your child and it’s for them alone, you should know that it will be a large responsibility to undergo. The parrot is going to need quality time and when the kid gets tired of them it is not a good idea to get rid of them. That’s why it’s Important to give him or her to a responsible person. The older the child, the better because they can feed it and take care of the bird during their quality time.

To find a healthy bird breeder, you need to find the pet shops that have them listed in their phone books or find them on the Internet. That’s just for starters, you need to find the one that has the right price and has many birds to choose from. You will be searching for a health bird that has all of their feathers.

The family will enjoy a bird that’s healthy and growing the full amount of feathers. Always make sure your birds wings are in good shape when you buy them because that’s a sign of mites. The beak needs to be nice and should have no cracks. To avoid the cracked beaks, you need to spray them with water so their beaks don’t get dry. The other thing to watch out for is the nose area, is it clean? If not, then he or she could have a sinus problem or infection.

The bird you get and bring to your home is going to need a good suited cage to make them fill they’re at home. Depending on the size of the bird, you need to make sure they’re going to have room for their wings and well being.

The yellow parrots you find in the store are some of the beautiful birds of the parrot family. You will find blue and yellow, but when you buy a full out yellow parrot, you will find a beauty in deed. Remember with you buy a parrot it’s important to know all the responsibilities of owning a parrot and how long they live.

In order to become a responsible parrot breeder, you will need to know about the job of parrot breeders. You may find breeding to be easy if you know a parrot breeder or even search the Internet for information. To find information that’s valid to teach you the right thing about parrot breeding is to find the best available EBook or books that pertain to information about parrot breeders.

The general information you will be searching for is the basic needs to get both females and males to breed. The male needs to like the female or vise versa. The birds will do their thing on their own when it comes time to mate and then the next thing you need to know is about nesting. Birds need to have their nest to lay their eggs in order to incubate them.

The next thing you should know is that when you incubate your own eggs, you need to know how to rotate the eggs and so forth. The process isn’t hard if you want to do this yourself as long as you keep up on the organization of the eggs. To find information for how to hatch parrot eggs, you need to ask a bird breeder or even check out the Internet for some information.

Now for those that have experience with breeding parrots, you should know what to look for when choosing a parrot. Picking the bird from a breeder is the hardest thing to do, because they all look good to your eyes. Not all bird breeders are bad because it takes a lot to breed. To choose your own breeders, you will need some experience with breeding them. There are plenty of beginners that’s out there that have problems with breeding and end up hurting the birds. You will find a lot of information on the Internet that can help you find the right information for breeding parrots.

To find the birds that’s going to give you the breeding you want is to find the healthy birds that haven’t been cross bred. That means they’re not related and have no blood ties between each other. The bird that’s being bred that’s in the same blood can cause birth defects and will cause false eggs.

The parrot breeders job can be a hard task if you don’t have the right information to get it right. It will take many years to establish your own way of breeding the type of bird you want. You will find it to be a good hobby and a job that can be fun. Please note that this should not be all about money, this should be about your love for the bird. If you are only in it for money, then you need to turn to something like freelance writing, webpage making or anything else.

When children hear about parrots, the first thing that comes to mind is that this bird is usually on the shoulder of a pirate and it can talk.

Though this creature has a habit of wanting and eating a cracker, studies have shown that this magnificent and colorful animal needs more than that in order to maintain a healthy diet.

By following these simple tips, the person can find other things, which are also essential to the parrot’s diet.

1. Parrots should have also have some vegetables, cooked meats and grains just like humans. This is because these creatures need the same nutrients that people get from eating such produce.

2. A healthy diet also means giving the parrot the right portions in each meal. If the owner gives too much, this should be reduced. This will take some time to get it right so the individual should just monitor the volume each time this is given to the animal.

3. Parrots get sick very easily. If there is excess food in the plate, this should be removed because this becomes the breeding ground for bacteria and molds.

4. Aside from food, the parrot must also be given a fresh supply of water daily. This will avoid making the bird dehydrated, which can also cause it to get sick.

5. Many people see pet owners giving seeds and nuts frequently to the parrot. Studies have shown this should be done sparingly because it does not provide that much nutrients, which are needed for the bird’s diet.

6. Though parrots may eat almost anything that humans eat, these following should never be given. These are chocolates, avocados, caffeine, alcohol, kidney and lima beans.

7. Parrots should be fed twice day and enjoy it if the food is mixed in water in the bowl. It is advisable for the pet owner to wash the dish first before and after each meal to make sure it is free from bacteria and other germs that could endanger the life of the bird.

These are just a few tips in feeding the parrot. The owner can read up more by buying a book or doing some research on the Internet.

Before buying any food for the parrot, it will also be a good idea to seek the advice of a veterinarian. This specialist can check on the bird and recommend the proper items to be bought from the pet store.

Parrots are great animals. In fact, as a pet, parrots can be pretty entertaining especially with children who just love their mimicry. But like other kinds of pets, parrots are not all sweetness and light. They can also be a bother especially when you are not really much into pets.

Here are some things that you have to take into consideration before buying a parrot for a pet. Read on and think long and hard about each item. Remember that parrots are not exactly cheap. Once you buy them, you won’t have any choice but to take care of them.

1. Parrots are noisy

Mimicries may seem cute for a while but after several weeks of non-stop noise, it would eventually become a bother. If you are the kind of person who values your peace and quiet at home, parrots are not the pets for you. Their songs are not the same as the musical sounds that some birds make. The larger the parrot bird that you have, the louder the sound that they will produce.

Do you know that they can even scream so loud, you’d be running for cover? Your neighbors will even hear it. A normal parrot will probably scream at least two times a day. A screaming match will probably last for about five to fifteen minutes.

2. Parrots love to play with things

Remember that parrots cannot tell the difference between a wooden toy that they are allowed to play with and a priceless wooden furniture that your great great grandparents bequeath you. They can chew at it and you won’t be able to do anything about it.

And sometimes, they won’t even be content with furniture. They can also chew computer and electric cords, books, papers and virtually everything that they can get their claws on. Wallpapers, clothes can also be clawed on. So, be very careful.

3. Parrots can bite

They may seem docile creatures but they are actually not. Parrots can bite and they can claw. Even small birds can do this like the parakeet. And this is not just the ordinary bite that will not result to a big wound. They can actually draw blood and rip the skin.

Some who bite really hard can even break the small bones. This is not to say that parrots are mean creatures. They are just scared of people they do not yet know. Their defense mechanism is of course to bite.

The macaw parrot is a type of parrot that originates from South America and Africa. There are many different types of macaws and two of the most popular are the Catalina macaw parrot and the blue and yellow macaw parrot. Many people will recognize the macaw from pirate movies as being the parrot that sits on the shoulder of the captain. They were of course used by sailors back in those days for sailors who could not speak. They used to train the macaw parrot to speak for them.

The lifespan of the macaw ranges from 15 to 30 years depending on how well looked after they are. There is lots you can do to make sure your macaw parrot will live for longer and one of the most important things you can do as an owner is to make sure your macaw is consistently being shown attention. Parrots hate nothing more than to be bored and being bored usually decreases their lifespan.

As the macaw parrot is a wild animal that came from the forests of Africa and South America, they must be specially treated. Therefore only trained experts should own a macaw because it takes a lot of effort to maintain these beautiful creatures. One of the things owners use to keep their macaws from boredom is to teach them how to talk. Many people don’t realize that the macaw is an amazing talker. Expert trainers are able to teach their macaw parrot to speak several different phrases and words.

Another thing that trainers like to do to keep their parrots happy is to teach them tricks. These tricks include anything from card tricks to ball games. They are amazing thinkers and have the capacity to solve even the most challenging of problems. Next time you visit the local wildlife reserve and they have a macaw parrot as apart of their wildlife, ask the trainers to show you some of the tricks they have taught their parrots. This will give you a good opportunity to learn many things for when you perhaps decide to get your own macaw one day.

So there it is, the macaw parrot in a nutshell. If you are thinking about getting your own macaw one day than I suggest you spend a lot of time reading and learning all the different training methods involved with this wonderful creatures. There are a myriad of books and resources out there, just make sure you take in the right information and filter out all the jargon.

Parrots’ behavior is commonly misunderstood by people who have them as pets. Parrots have a complex behavior which is a little harder to manage by a person, not as the case of a dog for instance. Parrots are intelligent, beautiful and entertaining birds. Nowadays, parrots’ care and behavior books and videos can be found everywhere and seem to be the new main branch in the pet industry.

Parrots bite when they play

Out of curiosity, a parrot must investigate the surrounding objects and environment. As every being has its own way of investigating, because nature gave senses to all of them but in different ways, the parrots use their beak. It is the caregiver’s duty to let the parrot know how far it should go on the investigation and how it can play or byte just by talking. A loud shout of a human has the similar effect as an adult bird’s vocalization to communicate with the youngsters and let them know the limits, out in the wilderness.

Aggression for territory delimitation

It is a parrot’s instinct to protect its territory from intruders. In the wild life, parrots associate in pairs and protect their nesting territories. They do the same thing in captivity, the only difference is that they associate with the caregiver and defend the territory together against intruders. The best way they can “fight” the intruders is by biting.

Parrots bite when they fear

Biting is also used as a defense mechanism by the birds. This comes from the instinct too. In the wild, a bird that fears something can always fly away but in captivity, the birds are usually denied the ability to fly so they remain with their biting ability alone.

Biting as a way of communication

Many birds may learn to byte as a way to ask for something, for something to eat or for peace. This kind of aggression has many forms of expressing. Maybe some parrots find out that a light byte on the owner’s hand will respond with a piece of something that the owner is eating; other parrots may try to say by biting that they want to be left alone. This kind of aggression is thought by the bird and can become a habit. If the parrot gets the desired effect on the byte, it will most likely repeat it.

In a relationship between a parrot and his owner, things may be a little more complicated than any other relationships between humans and pets because of the instinct of the parrot. The parrot will never do something it doesn’t want to and there are not to many ways to force him, not even in the wild. The relationship must be based on understanding and communicating because the birds are very receptive to any forms of communication and they show as much compassion as they receive. A person should learn to read the parrot’s language, its ways of communication, the way it moves and the way it reacts to things or actions. It is important for the human not to be dominating in the relation and to work things out by treating the parrot as an equal not as a thing.
