At first we thought that this toy would be a bust for our mouse. After hooking it up to the CritterTrail Z house, the mouse proved us quite wrong. After finally getting up to it, the mouse just ran around in circles for an hour, then eventually it went back to the center hub of the toy, looked at another tunnel to the outer tube, and went through that. He had completely forgotten where he was. Now we can’t get him out of it. We haven’t tried it as an alternative wheel, though it doesn’t particularly interest us. This is probably one of the easier CritterTrail items to clean. We had no idea that our mouse would like this so much.

The turn-about is a great “stand-alone” toy for hamsters. My syrian took about 10 minutes to figure it out and then she began running through the middle to the top and making the turn-about spin quickly! It was obvious she was enjoying herself when I popped open the top and she ran back down into the outer funnels instead. The turn-about is a good exerciser and alternative to the runaround balls. The turn-about is relatively stationary, so you don’t have to worry about your hamster rolling down stairs.
The only drawback I discovered is that it’s not easy to pop apart to clean, despite what the box says. I was able to swish water through it a few times and let it airdry overnight before my hamster could use it again (after she decided it would make a good bathroom).
Nonetheless, the turn-around really is a TOY for hamsters and mine thoroughly enjoys it. I highly recommend this product!

We got this to add to uor extensive collection of tubes and housing for our beloved “Fergie”. She loved this turn-about too much. She made house in it and it does not come apart easily (to say the least) There is an opening for the middle section but very hard to open the tubes in order to clean them. Because of the difficulty to clean, it had to go.

We’ve got the most spoiled hamster ever, and one of the fun things we bought her was this Turn-About. It’s good as a free-standing wheel if you bubble up one end or it can attach securely to the cage. Fiona loves it!
